Understanding the Powers of Gemstones

Throughout the ages of man's existence, civilizations around the world have held gemstones in high respect due to their special powers. People of high status such as kings, queens, emperors, and priests often had gemstones sewn onto their clothing to reassure protection. Knights and warriors had gemstones such as Garnets worked into their armor for strength in battle. Gemstones have been used for healing and protection for as long as man can remember.

The power and lure of gemstones are strong, and man will find himself drawn towards that which is beneficial for the body. It is a scientifically known fact that our body is composed of cosmic radiation and seven colors known as the "Chakras".These colors are red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet (the prism or rainbow colors). Gemstones are earth's manifestation of these colors. The balance of these colors in our body is what keeps us healthy and happy. Gemstones are helpful tools in keeping our Chakras in alignment which creates "Balance". It is your willingness to open up and accept the power a stone holds that creates the balance and promotes healing.

In today's modern world gemstones are still used for healing, however man's written word and understanding about gemstones may differ a bit from place to place. There are many good books relating to this subject, and all contain a wealth of helpful information. Books can be great tools to help guide you in the proper use and application of gemstone magic! It is important to remember that you are your own inner guide. You are the one that holds the knowledge of what is truly right for you. Open your heart and allow your energy to flow, you will be drawn towards that which will help your body to create "Balance" and promote good health.

Our body's cycle is just like the seasons in nature.It goes through changes and you may be drawn towards different colors as your body cycles. Follow your inner guide, and wear the stone color in which you are drawn. You can look up the stone type you are drawn towards and see what power it holds This may help you understand what your body needs to create "Balance".

My passion for stones started when I was a child growing up in Southern California. I would pick up any stone.That caught my attention and put it in my pocket, unaware of the reason for wanting to carry that stone. I just did. Through the years my collection grew and my understanding about them did also. As a teenager I found myself interested in Jewelry Design, and Gemstones of course! So, I followed my passion and took whatever classes I could in Silversmithing and Jewelry Design. Through the years I've worked with some wonderful Jewelers and Gemologists learning "The Trade". Through it all my obsession for the understanding of the "Power" of stones grew, taking me into the Metaphysical Realm where I have enjoyed years of learning, playing, and working with what the Great Mother Earth has provided us with; Wonderful Powerful Colorful Stones!
