SPOTLIGHT ON ... STORE
February 2008
Our featured bead store this month is Plum Bazaar.
Located in the heart of the live music capital of the world, Plum Bazaar is in historic downtown Branson, MO. The store opening of September 1, 2007 coincided with the opening of the new Branson Convention Center and Hilton Convention Center Hotel directly across the street.
Even though this store has only been open a few months, beading is not new to its owners. Sisters Susan, Sandy, and Sally Kelley first opened a macramé and bead store in 1977. They have been selling beads at their store Dayton's Hobbies and Crafts in Emporia, Kansas, ever since.
At Plum Bazaar, classes are regularly offered on a variety of jewelry and beading techniques. A monthly newsletter is e-mailed and includes the classes for the month and beading tips. Soft Flex bead stringing wire and crimps are used exclusively in the classes. Plum Bazaar carries beads from around the world, as we travel Asia and do direct importing. Other unusual items from around the world are also stocked including: yarns, purses, scarves and gifts.
Customer service, on the spot beading help, and helping new beaders get started is our way of life.
So, come visit us when you are in Branson. The coffee is on us, as Starbucks is next to us. Yes, we will buy the coffee for the first 50 people who tell us they saw this bead store blog. Happy beading!
